New Studio

I'm really pleased to announce I now have a studio with Cockpit Arts! I have wanted a studio with them ever since I started my business so it has been almost three years and now I am finally here! I have a wonderful studio looking over London towards Greenwich railway station and down the road from the Cutty Saark

I share with another textile designer Aelska. I am in love with her collars and it takes some real skill to make just one!

MASSIVE lampshade giveaway

I'm so excited to be moving to Cockpit Arts Deptford. I have had the most fabulous 2 years at Bow Arts SE1 Studio's sharing with a great group of textile designers for fashion.

But with the move comes a clear out and one of the biggest items which needs a new home is the extra large manipulated leaf lampshade retailing for £375.

You may not believe this but I am giving away with fabulous lampshade to the person who can offer it the best home, whether that be a hallway, living room, boutique hotel or office foyer.
All you need to do to win is follow on Facebook, retweet (if you have twitter) and write a message below saying where you are based, where you would put the lampshade and what it would go with.

All I ask in return is a fabulous before and after shot of the lampshade in it's new space.

The lampshade is for a ceiling pendant is 70cm in diameter and 50cm deep. The covering is 100% silk and the texture is made from duchess satin with a dark purple on the outside and dark grey on the inside.

New Bullfinch prints arrived

I decided my Juneberry and bird print with the great tits was looking rather lonely so I am creating a bird family. The new samples for the Bullfinch lampshades arrive today and I think they look rather cute. Here is a sneak peak of the lampshade designs before they are made up!

Sprucing up the studio

One of the many perks about sharing studios with other designers is you get first dibs on their designs they are about to through away. I've been spending quite a bit of time doing paperwork at the moment and it is one part of the studio which looks drab! So I want to say thank you very much to the super talent Francie for letting me make use of her old drawings to make my paperwork a little bit more fun!

Long time no speak!

So how can I start to apologise for the 8 months away from blogging??! It has been too long, and I can't even work out where to start with explaining what has changed here at Lorna Syson Textiles, so I thought I would do it in images.... a quick view on all the changes!

Summer 2011

Summer saw the designing of the new printed collection, influenced by the British Hedgerow photo's I took when researching the wool and stinging nettle cushions. I found a family of Great Tits nesting outside my home, I managed to get a couple of snaps of the gorgeous babies as they came out of the nest for their first flight.

I also started to move my prints and manipulation techniques into lampshades.

Autumn 2011

I Launched the new collection at Top Drawer and 100% Design, I was so happy with the feedback and sales. The Juneberry and bird cushions instantly became a best seller for me. As well as this I have started to frame the Dahlia wall flowers. These sold really well at 100% Design and now have homes all across Europe.

Winter 2011

My mentor got married in Scotland and I was so excited to be invited and even more excited to be asked to make the hair flowers for the bride and bridesmaids. Below you can also see the fab wedding cake they had! Andrea (the bride) made it with her cousin and the cakes tasted even better than they looked. Check out Two Cousins Bakery if you're interested.

2012!!

In Jan 2012 I headed over to Paris to show at Maison & Object, this was my first time showing at the event and I could not believe how huge the show was.
