Shop at the Mall

I am starting to ready for the next event, at the Mall Galleries in London:

http://www.designercrafts.org.uk/

It is on for two weeks and shows some of the best work from Britain from the society of designer makers. I am involved in the Shop at the Mall which has around 30 designers each showing a small selection of there work priced under £200. There is also a wide variety of Hand-made greeting cards.

I have my fingers crossed that even though the event is in January and not a normal peek time for shopping, people will fall in love with my unique items.

I am taking three of my Wall Flowers, with their boxes to exhibit as well as a selection of my dahlia corsages which were really popular this christmas time and a couple of leather clutch bags.

Looking forward to what the new year will bring and I hope it will start off with a bang!

A Successful Christmas run-up and now time for a break!

The past month has been really busy with a show every weekend Thursday - Sunday for the whole of December.
Overall the month has been successful with the majority of the shows taking money and creating more contacts with other people in the industry and making potential customers aware of what Lorna Syson Textiles is!
Today I am finishing the commissions in time for christmas and then hopefully going to have 9 days off! not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, probably end up tiding and organsising so January becomes easier.
I've also created new flowers which have been commissioned for christmas present (picture) I'm really pleased with how these have turned out

Hard work ahead for xmas

My 'All i want for xmas stand' is due to be set up in time for trading starting this thursday evening! It leaves me three full days to squeeze in so much work to do.

I having issues with my gift box supplier, they are the only company i can find which do the right size and they cant send anymore out to me till the third week of January, which would leave me two shows both in london with only 2 boxes left! I'm going to have compromise and get the blue ones, now i have to rely on them to get them to me on time, which is something else they are not good at.

To go along with this I have sold out of two of my colours for the over sized badges so they also need to be made up...... as well as another oversized wall flower in wine/cream, a leather leaf laser cut cushion and two felt laser cut flower cushions! all go for the next three days
Roll on the 21st for a day off and some sleep!

If you get chance come and visit me at 'All i want for xmas' from Thrus 17th in the evening until sunday 20th! last chance to get your final christmas presents

Princes Trust New Business Development Loan

I'm really happy because I am now recieving support fincially and mentoring from the Princes Trust.

I feel like this also gives me something to prove because I need to show that they were right in choosing me to support and trough paying the money back I will eventually help to support someone just like me in three year time!

I've got a lot to learn but I'm starting to feel like I'm at the start of a whole new chapter in my life... and hoping that one day i will look back and think myself silly for worrying about it so much

How to describe the day

Today has been slow at the pop-up shop, not really the footfall i was expecting, but not wanting to sound negative, because i dont think that is what blogging is about, it was a friday and i have my fingers crossed that tomorrow and sunday will be better!

I've met alot of great people who also have their work at the pop-up shop and everyone is really friendly and forth coming with useful advice, which is something i need seeming I'm still in my first couple of months of business.

I'm really feeling like I'm needing to promote my work more, and I've been told blogs, facebook and twitter are the way forward, so I'm giving it a try!! fingers crossed
