One off hand-bags

I've recently been in contact with Dee from Zuckiestyle! She makes one off customised hand-bags in a range of fabrics and materials. I've been really impressed with the quality of her work and she has shown at  events such as the clothes show!

Linda made my day!

I would like to say a massive thank you to Linda! She is a very kind lady who brought one of my red corsages at the Ideal home show this weekend and send me a lovely email about the comments she had had while wearing it.

Linda wrote "...Just wanted you to have the feed back on how popular it was. I also might add it is such a statement piece you need no other jewellery.  I love the colour red and i like bold pieces so i was thrilled to buy your flower brooch..."

This email really has made my day!

Would like to say a massive thank you to Ellen Adele for giving up her Saturday to help me and the Design Factory out at the Ideal home show!
She was an absolute star and made people feel at ease when talking to them about the artists work.

Check out her website http://www.ellenadele.com/  she does the most amazing process which she spend years researching and perfecting. She will also be showing at Grand Designs Live

Ideal Home, Thursday 25th March 2010

I arrived early for my first 11 hour day manning the Design Factory stand we have at the Ideal home show! It was a long day and when i arrived I saw they had put this awful purple carpet down when we were meant to have white! Things were clashing and just not great!

I met some really lovely people who appreciate designer makers work and had plenty of comments about how we were the best stand there which was amazing!! Plenty of people signed up to the news letter and were genuinely interested in what we do!

I also had to compete with the usual, thats too expensive, why does that cost so much... it can be hurtful because they are basically saying that even though we have had a university education, years of training and have made one-off hand-made bespoke pieces our time is worth maybe £1 an hour if that..... I'm certain other trained professionals don't work for this amount so why must we?

But on a high note I'm off to do my second day, this one isn't as long only 8 hours and Neil is coming to join me from 1pm so i can have a break today!

Photography work

New images taken by a brilliant photographer Vicky Hubbard, her website is www.victoriajanephotography.co.uk
She was kind enough to keep working with me,  to make my images just right until well past midnight last week. She was really patient and can see why people love her for weddings because she is capable of making you feel very comfortable.
While i was at her home she showed me some of her photography work she had done for weddings and portraits. It was amazing. I highly recommend Vicky for any occasion!
She also makes up images onto canvas's at

Setting up Ideal Home exhibition!!

We set up our stand for the Ideal home show yestarday. I was the first to arrive at 12.00 and found the space empty, we had paid for lights, sockets, locked storage area, carpet, facia and there was nothing appart form other people's disgarded cardboard boxes!
So that was the beginning of the chasing up which lasted untill 6! this photo was taken at 6 and still no carpet but the tannoy kept saying we had to leave!!
Its soo hard to comprehend how much planning and work has gone in to these events making them look perfect!
Debbie from Debbrie Bryan was manning the stand today so hopefully the first day went well. I will be there Thurs,Fri Sat and Sun so if you want to pop and say hi i would love to have a chat

Room settings

I love putting these huge flowers in the actual settings in which they belong!
this wall flower is 100cm x 100cm x 8cm and is made from digitally printed and plain satins!

The cushions are all part of Lorna Syson Textiles collection and the wonderful chest at the front is the suitcase my boyfriends great Aunt emigrated to American with on the famous white star ferry (same group as the Titanic!) i love a bit of history!

Ideal Home exhibition

I've had great news today!

I've have a great opportunity to show my work in the ideal shopping hall thanks to the design factory! I am showing on stand 2N3 along with three other design factory members including Debbie Bryan, award winning craft designer who produces the most beautiful knitted items, Lucianna Gallucci, a brilliant ceramic designer and Esther Patterson a talented textile designer!

The ideal home show has been revamped this year, the company Media Ten who are the brans behind Grand Designs magazine, Grand Designs Live event and Icon magazine has brought the show and is investing a lot to be it a great place to visit!

So if you find yourself in London between the 20th March and the 5th of April would be great to see you!

List of this or that

i have a week off work! brilliant, great, get to time to all those things I've been putting off especially for now... problem is I have such a long list of these things they are not going to get done!
I needed to

  1. design work for the new TAP (textiles and paper exhibiton I am involved with in May)
  2. get the new broacher finished and sent out to the printers
  3. ring around other shows who's websites are just confusing me!
  4. get the contract sent out for 100% futures
  5. make sure my insurance is ok and still valid for the time of 100% futures.
  6. Feburary accounts incoming and outgoing
  7. ring the suppilers to order fabric in time to then get in sent out with the correct artwork to the laser cutter and back to me in time to make in into a cushion for BCTF
  8. BCTF paperwork
  9. Accounts from the start of my business/finish uni
  10. getting my paperwork/samples ready in time for a 2day course starting in exactly 25hours and 26mins!
and that is just the start of it, I'm going to need another week of the organise this week..... and people think all i do is design!

Website changes!

As you know I am waiting for a website to be done, in my haste, I like things done when I think of them. After speaking to my dad about this we think is a common problem with my generation, mainly because we are used to everything being instant and accessible!

So in my haste I have made a couple of changes to my own website, enjoy!

This picture is a new one which was taken in Sam's flate my wonderful friend Francie changed for me!

Makes me smile!

This is not Lorna Syson Textiles related but I think it's soo funny I just had to share it! A friend of mine put me onto it after apparently roaring with laugher when reading!

Stating the obvious, what is says in his sleep is recorded and then written up on this blog! I recommend if you need something to put a smile on your face this will! enjoy
