We have recently finished a large commission for a private client just off the Kings Road. They live in a beautiful house with wooden floors, and lots of clean hard surfaces such as glass and brushed concrete and when I met them at 100% Design this year they were looking for something to soften the look of the space and help reduce the echo's bouncing off the smooth surfaces.
This project was a challenge, the wall we worked with had a door which opened outwards into the space, so it was vitally important to create a piece which looked like it was one piece when the door was closed but did not interfere with the function of the door.
When talking to the client they described how they would like the textiles to work like a painting would in the space or a large art piece. They have a fantastic living wall in their garden and this was influential in the design decisions. They clients also kindly sent me images they liked from paintings, to glass panels to rugs and we sat down with the sample books full of 100% wool and satins to go over colours.
For this space we ended up doing around 10-15 designs and we finally sent over this mood board to get feedback from the client.
Below you can see the the stages we went through to get the exact design in the correct places on each panel so once it was installed the lines flowed from one panel to another. As I said it was a challenge but one we loved and feel very proud of!
Below you can see the wall transform from a white wall to the finished piece.
